The California Museum of Art Thousand Oaks is starting a new lecture series on the visual arts.
The first program will feature John Buxton, an art appraiser and dealer from Dallas who has been in the art business for more than 40 years, at 6:30 p.m. Wed., Sept. 17 at the Grant Brimhall Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks.
His presentation will be “Tales from the Road,” a summary of his experiences as an art dealer and as an appraiser on television.
Since 1974, Braxton has appraised, authenticated and evaluated African, Native American, pre-Columbian and Oceanic art for museums and private collections. He has been an appraiser with the PBS-TV series “Antiques Roadshow” since it debuted in 1997.
Admission to the program is free.
