Sleight of hand, mind reading and comedy magic plus original art is featured in “Tony Clark and his Magical Odyssey” presented by the California Museum of Art Thousand Oaks on July 22, 23, and 24, 2016.

Growing up in Stamford, Connecticut, Tony Clark was 6 years old when he saw a magician on TV who sparked his interest. Later, a television commercial for magic cards led to his first purchase of a magic trick and his fascination into the world of magic. Stamford, according to Clark, was a very quiet place to grow up, so he went to the library and checked out books on magic, ten at a time. He says that he had some trouble reading, but magic gave him a reason to read.

Clark honed his skills and began to win a number of talent competitions through his grammar school years.

By the time Clark had graduated from high school, he had already gained international recognition for his accomplishments. He studied the art of magic and stage movement with Clark Slydini, the master of misdirection. Following his studies, Clark won the World Class Stage Contest for the Society of American Magicians.

In 1989, Clark and his father packed up a van and moved to Hollywood. For the next 10 years Clark became a regular performer at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, as well as in casino showrooms and nightclubs from Las Vegas and Puerto Rico to Europe and Japan.

In the mid-nineties, Clark was nominated Stage Magician of the Year by the Magic Castle in Hollywood, where he continues to perform a number of times each year. In 1996 Clark produced and performed in his hit Magic Revue Show called “Phantasy”. This show made Lake Tahoe entertainment history for being the first show to ever run four years straight!

In 1998 the International Magicians Society gave Clark the “Magician of the Year” award and in 2000 he was presented the “World Magic Award” on CBS TV.

Clark was then asked to create and perform a spectacular escape on the “World’s Most Dangerous Magic II” on NBC. He also appeared on “Masters Of Illusion” – CW TV and numerous TV shows around the world.

Clark has consulted on TV Pilots with the Academy Award winning producer of “The Illusionist”- Tom Nunan and actor Steve Valentine (Crossing Jordan).

He has created magic segments and coached Nicholas Cage for his film “Next” and John Malkovich for his film “The Great Buck Howard”. Clark has also worked on many hit TV shows like “House MD”, “Monk” and “Brothers and Sisters.”

For the past twenty years, Clark has literally traveled the world performing, producing and creating for live stage shows, TV, Film & Videos. He directed a Magic Revue show called “Direct From Broadway – The Magic of Joseph Gabriel” at the Monte Bleu Casino Resort in Lake Tahoe, NV as well as directing 8 of his own hit shows in the last 6 years.

Following many years of hard work, Clark began producing and starring in his own full evening show, Phantasy, at the Horizon Hotel and Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Due to his many other contributions to the art of magic over the years, Clark was awarded the Best Classical Magic Act Award at the World Magic Awards which aired on CBS television. Clark also has his own production company under which he manufactures a unique line of magic products catered to professional magicians the world over.

When not creating original effects for other performers, Clark lectures on all areas of magic around the world.

In “Tony Clark and his Magical Odyssey”, Clark will present amazing magical experiences, and will mix in some funny anecdotes and experiences that he shared with his Italian-born parents. In addition to his show, Clark is loaning the Museum two very rare lithographs of magic posters from the 1920’sthat have been rarely seen.

Admission to this “Magical Odyssey” is $40 per person for individuals 6 years of age and older. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the program and exhibitions of CMATO. For tickets and/or additional information call (805) 405-5240 or email info@cmato.org.
