CMATO Names CLU Dean and Business Attorney to Board of Directors

CALIFORNIA MUSEUM OF ART THOUSAND OAKS NAMES CAL LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY DEAN, L.A. BUSINESS ATTORNEY TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

(Thousand Oaks, Calif.) – The California Museum of Art Thousand Oaks announced the election of Gerhard Apfelthaler, Ph.D, and Glenn Fuller to its 10-member Board of Directors. Apfelthaler and Fuller and will each serve three-year terms.

Apfelthaler is Dean of the School of Management and professor of International Business at California Lutheran University (CLU). A prolific entrepreneur, he started Hub 101, an incubator program for early-stage, high-potential startups at CLU’s Center for Entrepreneurship, and is a co-founder of Oak Therapeutics, CURE Pharmaceutical and AT Consult in New York, among other companies.

He was previously Chair of the Department of International Management at FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Graz, Austria, and served as Commercial Attache to the Austrian Embassy in Singapore. Apfelthaler regularly consults for companies on issues related to international business development. He is a member of the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business and serves on the Board of the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County. He earned his Doctorate in Economic and Social Sciences from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.

“I am delighted to have been elected to this position and look forward to supporting CMATO as a member of the Board of Directors,” said Apfelthaler. “The museum plays a vital role in our community and I am eager to join my fellow board members in their efforts to expand CMATO’s positive impact on our region and beyond.”

Fuller is a principal at Glenn Fuller Real Estate and specializes in real estate finance construction, tax and venture capital law. Fuller has represented various clients in hotel and resort financing, golf course acquisition and development financing as well as office, retail and residential development lending, in addition to clients in hybrid debt/equity transactions, equity kicker transactions and a myriad of other lending and equity deals. Fuller’s experience also includes the acquisition, sale, exchange and development and redevelopment of real property; as well as structuring joint ventures and tax planning for real estate acquisitions and dispositions.

Fuller is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and a frequent writer, commentator and speaker on current real estate, tax and corporate issues. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Moriah Society of the University of Judaism and is a member of the United Jewish Federation’s Real Estate and Construction Divisions. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School.

Apfelthaler and Fuller join the Board during a transformational time for CMATO, including record-level attendance and a significant increase in donations. The museum was also recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Annenberg Foundation in recognition of its integration into the community as well as its best practices in diversity, financial sustainability, infrastructure, board governance, collaboration and staff development.
