Modern Art is a term that is often used to broadly describe a number of innovative art movements that emerged in the early twentieth century including post-impressionism, fauvism, cubism, expressionism, suprematism, pointillism, futurism, as well as early experiments in abstract expressionism. While sometimes overwhelming to novices and the knowledgeable alike, these fascinating and varied forms of art reflected fundamental changes in artistic styles and creative direction during a period of rapid societal change and explosive world events. Join us on May 8 as Rich Reitzell demystifies Modern Art in a lushly illustrated lecture that features numerous examples and artists that comprise the diverse genres known as Modern Art. Artists include Van Gogh, Cezanne, Seurat, Picasso, Braque, Vlaminck, Delaunay, Kirchner, Mark, Kandinsky, and others.
